Third-party emulation engines

Emulo runs some machines through emulators it did not write. Those engines are free software under the GNU General Public License, embedded as separate documents in an <iframe> and driven only through postMessage — they are never imported, bundled or linked into Emulo's own code. Each is served here exactly as its authors published it.

vAmigaWeb — Commodore Amiga

AuthorsvAmiga by Dirk W. Hoffmann; WebAssembly port by Mithrendal
LicenceGNU General Public License, version 3
Source code github.com/vAmigaWeb/vAmigaWeb — the C++ sources this build was compiled from
Build published at github.com/vAmigaWeb/vAmigaWeb.github.io
Exact revision vamiga/UPSTREAM.md — the commit this mirror was taken from, written by the tool that refreshes it
Licence textGNU GPL v3

EmulatorJS — Commodore, Sinclair, Amstrad, and the consoles

AuthorsThe EmulatorJS contributors, running libretro cores (VICE, CrocoDS, Fuse) compiled to WebAssembly
LicenceGNU General Public License, version 3
Source code github.com/EmulatorJS/EmulatorJS — mirrored here in source form, under ejs/upstream/: what is served and its corresponding source are the same files
Exact revision ejs/upstream/UPSTREAM.md — the tag this mirror was taken from, and the cores fetched with it
Licence textGNU GPL v3

Unlike the engine above, EmulatorJS is a library rather than a finished emulator: the page around it is the embedder's to write. Emulo's is ejs/player.js (with ejs/disk-menu.js and ejs/joystick-keys.js and ejs/virtual-pad.js), and it is under the same licence, for the reason its own header gives — it shares a document with GPL code. It is served as source, which is the only form it ever had.

apple2js — Apple ][ and Apple //e

AuthorWill Scullin and contributors
LicenceMIT
Source code github.com/whscullin/apple2js — with its cpu6502 and apple2shader submodules
Exact revision apple2/UPSTREAM.md — the commit this mirror was built from
Licence textapple2/LICENSE

This one is built rather than downloaded: the project publishes no release, no tag and no package, so it is pinned by commit and compiled from source with its own build. Two files under apple2/ are Emulo's and are named so — emulo.html, generated from the project's own page, and emulo-player.js, which drives the global its build exports. Everything else there is theirs.

Hatari and EmuTOS — Atari ST and STE

AuthorsThe Hatari authors; the EmuTOS development team
LicenceGNU General Public License, version 2 or (at your option) any later version — both
Source code framagit.org/hatari/hatari; EmuTOS at sourceforge.net/projects/emutos
Exact revision atarist/UPSTREAM.md — the commit Hatari was built from, the EmuTOS release, and the two build-file changes
Licence text atarist/LICENSE-hatari.txt, atarist/LICENSE-emutos.txt

Hatari is built here, compiled to WebAssembly with Emscripten from the commit named above. The emulator's own code is unchanged; two of its CMake files are adjusted so it builds on a machine with no host C compiler and so Emulo's page can start it — both changes are written out in UPSTREAM.md. emulo.html and emulo-player.js are Emulo's. The ST boots EmuTOS, the free replacement for Atari's TOS, shipped as released.

System ROMs

The Amiga engine ships AROS, a freely redistributable Kickstart replacement, and that is what a machine boots on here. No original Amiga Kickstart ROM is distributed with Emulo: those belong to Cloanto. To use your own, put it in C:\EMULO\ROMS inside Emulo and it will be handed to the machine instead.
